Why turmeric alone isn't enough
By The BloomQueen Team · 2 min read
If you have tried turmeric before, whether stirred into a warm drink or taken as a basic supplement, and felt nothing, you are not imagining it. There are two reasons most turmeric disappoints: concentration and absorption.
The concentration problem
Turmeric the spice is not the part that does the work. The part that matters is curcumin, turmeric's active compound. In the ground spice from the supermarket, curcumin makes up only around 3%.
A serious turmeric supplement uses a concentrated extract instead. Ours is standardised to 95% curcuminoids. That is a different category of product from the spice on your shelf.
The absorption problem
Concentration alone is still not enough, because curcumin on its own is poorly absorbed. This is where piperine, a compound from black pepper, earns its place. Published research on the ingredient pair found that piperine improved curcumin absorption by up to 2,000%. That figure comes from external research on the ingredients themselves, not a claim about our product. But it is why we would never buy a turmeric supplement without an absorption partner, and neither should you.
Why we added four more helpers
Curcumin also works better with company. Our Turmeric formula surrounds the 95% extract and piperine with four supporting ingredients: ginger, standardised to 5% gingerols, which clears the same pathways and calms joints and the gut; cayenne, for circulation and warmth; zinc citrate, for repair and daily resilience; and vitamin B6, a co-factor for energy and nerve function.
Six substances, one job, done together.
A note on patience
Pain is what you feel. Inflammation is what makes it stay. Most customers notice a shift within 2 to 4 weeks of daily use. Discomfort that built up over years does not unwind in a weekend, so give any formula a fair, consistent run before you judge it.
